The back is finished as nicely since the bottom is just as important

After hollowing, the globe holes are cut open to a known size
The surface is contoured to provide a smooth transition for the finial
Like most, Dick does his finials in a contrasting colored species
Dick creates his finial with his trademark captive ring

Some Deft finish is applied ...
and the finished ornament
One of Dick's ornaments from another rotation is passed around as well
Dick finishes with some miniatures, here a mini goblet with captive ring

For the fourth rotation of day two, I take in the Richard Raffan session
Since I wanted a good seat, I got there early and caught the end of his earlier session
Richard is just finishing his session on lidded boxes
His acknowledgement of the applause from the audience
