Click on thumbnail for full size image

The Utah Woodturning Symposium is held in Provo each June
The day before the "official" symposium is an open house at Craft Supplies
People flock to the Craft Supplies site on a quiet street off the main drag
It is an all day event with everyone getting there long before opening

Everyone waiting for the doors to open at the clearance sale location
The doors open and there is a crush of humanity to get in first
The crowd makes passage in or out a real task
Within 10 minutes, the great bargains are gone and the place thins out

Craft Supplies is one main building with many outlying buildings
Every bay of every building is setup for demonstrations
There is a bay setup with an assortment of lathes that Craft Supplies handles
Other bays are setup with lathes for demos while others are setup ...

with special tools for demonstration
Here, gourds are carved with a high speed cutting tool
Dale Nish chats with Alan Batty as Alan sets up for one of his demos
Alan gets started with his hand chased threading demonstration
