Tool Tune Up Workshop

The workshop was held at the Woodcraft Store in Rochester
RWS member Dan Smullen was the instructor
Dan started with a clean and lube of the table saw

Checking the table top for flatness with a straight edge
Adjusting the table top extensions to be level with the main table
Final check of table top extensions
Checking the motor pulley alignment

Adjusting the motor pulley
Checking the arbor runout with a dial indicator
Checking blade runout
Checking blade alignment to miter slot with dial caliper and known flat blade

Checking for tilt axis parallelism
Checking 90 degree blade stop setting
Checking rip fence alignment
Checking splitter alignment with the blade

The second tool Dan worked on was a 6" jointer
Adjusting the gibs
A little lubrication
Checking infeed and outfeed table alignment with a straightedge and a feeler gauge
