Sharpening Workshop

James shows his homemade, special angled, leather strops
Kurt Hertzog did a presentation on sharpening drills and bits
The Drill Doctor was featured as a novices best tools for sharpening drills
Kurt explained the mechanics of the sharpening wheel and fixtures

With the two sized collets, you can handle up to 3/4 inch drills
Kurt runs through the proper collet settings...
and then the method of sharpening with the machine
After drills, Kurt covered spade bits and Forstner bits

Here he demonstrates touching up a Forstner bit
The day finished up with Sean Clayton showing the Tormek system
Sean and his wife Andrea own the local Woodcraft store
Sean demonstrates a chisel being sharpened on the Tormek

The last part of the day was dedicated for additional "hands on"
All of the instructors stayed and had their equipment setup
The instructors worked with students on techniques or special needs
A good workshop, the end of the season's workshops until Fall
